Why does my verification code show 'Invalid or expired code' error during login?

If you're getting 'Invalid or expired code' when trying to log in, this is typically caused by using an outdated verification code.

How verification codes work

Each new code invalidates previous ones:

  • When you request a new verification code, all previously sent codes immediately become invalid
  • Only the most recently sent code will work
  • This is a security feature to prevent unauthorized access

Common causes of this error

Multiple code requests:

  • If you request several codes in a row, only the latest one is valid
  • Earlier codes in your email will no longer work

Email delivery delays:

  • Sometimes there can be a delay between when you request a code and when the email arrives
  • You might receive and try to use an older code that has already been replaced

How to resolve it

Find the most recent code:

  1. Check your email for the most recently received verification code
  2. Look at the timestamps to identify which code was sent last
  3. Use only the most recent code

Request a fresh code:

  1. If you've left the login page, go back and request a new verification code
  2. Wait for the email to arrive
  3. Use the new code immediately
  4. Don't request additional codes while waiting

Verification code expiration

Verification codes typically expire 30 minutes after being sent, so make sure you're using a recent code even if it's the latest one you received.
